Other 6/25/26 HCBL Games: North Fork/Southampton Get Mercy Rule Wins
North Fork 10, Shelter Island 0 (5.5 Innings)
The North Fork Ospreys behind a five-inning one-hit complete game by Isaac Aguirre (Pomona-Pitzer) defeated the Shelter Island Bucks by a score of 10-0 on the road at Fiske Field.
The Ospreys took control of the game in the first inning scoring four runs highlighted by a two-run single by Sincere Lozano (Lemoyne Owen) with Eli Sitzer (Washington (MO) and Max Dushney (Bates) having RBI for North Fork in the first.
Mike Siano (St. Lawrence) added to the lead with an RBI double in the top of the fourth which gave the Ospreys a 5-0 lead. The Ospreys added two more runs in the fifth inning on a Dushney RBI double and a Chuck Cappello (Worcester Polytechnic) RBI single to push the score to 7-0.
North Fork would close out the game getting three runs in the sixth inning from a two-run single by Tristan Govea (Felician) and an RBI single from Andrew Baay (Middlebury).
Southampton 10, Sag Harbor 0
The Southampton Breakers got a home victory at Southampton High School on Thursday as they beat the Sag Harbor Whalers in five innings by a final score of 10-0.
Southampton scored three runs in the first as Alex Apicella (Rowan College at Gloucester), Chase Jones (West Chester) and Vic Patel (Wallace CC) drove in runs for the Breakers in the inning.
The Breakers added four more runs in the third as Patel singled in a run to make it 4-0. James Rice (Gardner-Webb) followed with a sacrifice fly and soon after Patel would score on a Sag Harbor error. Liam Daly (Holy Cross) added the final run of the Breaker third inning with an RBI double that made the score 7-0.
Southampton plated two runs in the fourth on RBI singles from Rice and Owen Beatrice (St. John’s). The Breakers would force the ten-rule mercy rule in the fifth when Apicella hit his third home run of the season on a 2-0 pitch giving Southampton the win in front of the home crowd.
Southampton starting pitcher Isaac Scavarda (Hillsdale) pitched four innings allowing only one hit to get his first win of the season. Michael DiOrio (Williams) pitched an inning of scoreless relief for Southampton in the fifth.
