Southold Native Luke Hansen Returns to Shelter Island Bucks Coaching Staff
The Shelter Island Bucks will have a familiar local presence back in the dugout this summer, as Southold native Luke Hansen returns for his third consecutive season as an assistant coach.
A recent article in The Suffolk Times highlighted Hansen’s return to the Bucks, where he will once again work closely with the team’s pitching staff. Hansen, who served as the Bucks’ pitching coach last season, brings strong local roots and valuable playing and coaching experience to Shelter Island.
A former standout pitcher at Southold High School, Hansen earned League 9 Most Valuable Player honors before continuing his baseball career at Sacred Heart University. He also pitched for the Mystic Schooners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, the North Fork Ospreys in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League, and the New Jersey Jackals of the Frontier League.
Hansen’s return gives the Bucks an experienced coach who understands both the league and the East End baseball community. According to the article, Hansen shares Head Coach Andy Concepcion’s optimism for the upcoming season and is looking forward to seeing what this year’s Shelter Island roster can accomplish.
The Bucks have been close in recent seasons, including a championship game appearance two years ago and another competitive campaign last summer. With Hansen back on staff, Shelter Island adds continuity, local knowledge, and pitching expertise as the team prepares for another HCBL season.
The HCBL congratulates Coach Hansen on his return to the Bucks and appreciates the continued local coverage of our coaches, players, and teams.
