Westhampton 2, North Fork 1 (8 Innings)
The Westhampton Aviators won a tight game against the North Fork Ospreys on Friday night in Peconic winning by a final score of 2-1 in eight innings.
The game was scoreless through the first five and a half innings until Max Doninger (St. Peter’s) broke the tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.
Westhampton would have two men on with two out in the top of the seventh as Antonio Belgrove (Salem State) singled in the tying run to keep the Aviators in the game.
North Fork would have the winning run in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh but would come up scoreless as the game went to the eighth and final inning.
Brady Green (Bucknell) would give Westhampton the lead with an RBI single making the score 2-1 in favor of Westhampton. The Ospreys would have runners at the corners with one out but Jacob Rentz (Herkimer CC) would get Gianni Generoso (SUNY Westchester CC) to ground into a 6-4-3 double play giving the Aviators the win.
Westhampton and North Fork got great starting pitching as Aviators starter Joseph Hiller (Quinnipiac) went five innings allowing two hits with nine strikeouts and a walk. Ospreys starting pitcher Devin Saltzgaber (Pomona-Pitzer) went 5.1 scoreless innings allowing three hits with five strikeouts and two walks.
Sag Harbor 7, Shelter Island 1
The Sag Harbor Whalers picked up a 7-1 win over the Shelter Island Bucks at Fiske Field in Shelter Island on Friday. Jackson Herzog (Brandeis) went five innings in his start for the Whalers allowing only a run on two hits.
Aaron Vetter (Palm Beach Atlantic), Milo Suarez (Dartmouth) and Nicholas Banner (Tufts) all had a two-RBI game for Sag Harbor as they improved their record to 8-5.
Southampton 6, Riverhead 0
The Southampton Breakers held the Riverhead Tomcats to just four hits in a 6-0 victory in Calverton on Friday. Brevin Bezick (Rowan College at Gloucester) got the win for Southampton pitching four innings only allowing three hits.
Zach Khozoian (Harvard) had a two-run home run in the top of the third while Luke Ciminiello (Stony Brook) had a pair of hits and three stolen bases.
