North Fork 6, Shelter Island 3
The North Fork Ospreys on the strength of a six-run second inning defeated the Shelter Island Bucks at home by a final score of 6-3 on Thursday at Cochran Park.
The Bucks got the game’s first run in the top of the first inning on a double steal which resulted in Sam Ametrano (Quinnipiac) scoring from third base to give Shelter Island a 1-0 lead.
North Fork would get all the offense they would need in the bottom of the second inning scoring six runs highlighted by a two-run home run by Nicolas Martini (Eastern Connecticut State).
It would be all the offense that North Fork starting pitcher Logan Pulitano (Post) would need pitching six innings allowing a pair of runs on just one hit earning his first win of the season.
Sag Harbor 10, Southampton 2
The Sag Harbor Whalers improved to 5-1 on the season with a 10-2 win over the Sag Harbor Whalers on Thursday at Mashashimuet Park.
Sag Harbor would score three runs in the first inning, two in the second inning and four in the third inning to take a 9-0 lead after three innings. It was enough offense for Whalers starting pitcher Paul Roesel (Sage) who went four innings allowing two runs on two hits to earn the win.
Derek Desmarais (Tufts) pitched the last three innings allowing just one hit to earn the save in relief.
Westhampton 8, Riverhead 5
The Westhampton Aviators won their third straight game with an 8-5 win on the road over the Riverhead Tomcats.
Brett Connolly (Washington (MD) was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, triple and two RBI. Danny Nawrocki (Bucknell) and Tristan Gatchalian (SUNY Cortland) also had a pair of RBI each in the win.
Jack Molini (Le Moyne) pitched four innings earning his first win of the season for Westhampton while Lucas Miller (Union) pitched the last three innings allowing a run on two hits to get the save.
Matt Hesselbirg (Mercy) led the Riverhead offense with three RBI and a pair of hits.
