Sag Harbor 12, Riverhead 3
On the strength of a ten-run bottom of the second inning, Sag Harbor improved their record to 4-1 as the Whalers beat the Riverhead Tomcats by a final score of 12-3 on Wednesday.
Finley Holmes (Palm Beach Atlantic) had a two-run single for the Whalers as part of the ten-run second and pitched the final inning for Sag Harbor in relief to close out the game.
Jackson Herzog (Brandeis) who got the start for the Whalers on the mound pitched three innings allowing an unearned run on two hits as he picked up his second win of the season for Sag Harbor.
Ethan Righter (Hamilton) was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI for Sag Harbor and was named the Pepsi HCBL Player of the Night for his play at the bat.
Southampton 10, Shelter Island 0 (6.5 Innings)
The Southampton Breakers picked up a 10-0 mercy rule win over the Shelter Island Bucks at Fiske Field in Shelter Island on Wednesday.
The Breakers had three home runs in the game from Aidan Colsante (Harvard), Alex Apicella (Rowan College at Gloucester) and Nick Slogik (Rowan College at Gloucester). Chase Jones (West Chester) was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored.
The Breakers got the mercy rule win in the top of the seventh when Michael Caron (Assumption) hit a two-run double making the score 10-0 and gave the Breakers the win.
Shane McKenna (Oberlin) pitched four shutout innings only allowing three hits with two strikeouts and two walks earning the win for Southampton.
Westhampton 3, North Fork 1
The Westhampton Aviators won their second straight game on the road getting a 3-1 victory over the North Fork Ospreys on Wednesday at Cochran Park.
North Fork took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a solo home run hit by Cam LaGrassa (Brown). Westhampton would tie the score in the top of the fourth when a North Fork error allowed Brayden Hromada (Quinnipiac) to reach base allowing Brett Connolly (Washington (MD) to score.
The Aviators took the lead in the fifth as Danny Nawrocki (Bucknell) hit an RBI single to make the score 2-1. Hromada followed with his second RBI of the game on a groundout that scored Nawrocki as the Aviators had a 3-1 lead.
Gabriel Pena (American International) who came on to pitch in relief for Westhampton in the bottom of the fourth held the Ospreys at bay tossing four shutout innings allowing four hits with five strikeouts earning the win.
