North Fork 6, Shelter Island 2

Due to unplayable field conditions at Cochran Park, Tuesday’s matchup between the Shelter Island Bucks and North Fork Ospreys was relocated to Shelter Island, with the Ospreys serving as the home team. North Fork took advantage, using timely hitting and strong pitching to earn a 6-2 victory.

The Ospreys broke through in the second inning when Carter Heagle (Merrimack) lined an RBI double to left field, scoring Eli Sitzer for the game’s first run.

North Fork added to its lead in the third. Andrew Baay (Middlebury) singled home Rocco Cimino (Pace) before Eli Sitzer (Washington (MO) delivered the biggest hit of the inning, drilling a two-run double, stretching the advantage to 4-0.

Shelter Island finally got on the board in the sixth. David Swift (Bates) scored on an RBI single from Noah Heath (Rider), though Pearson Dodds (St. Lawrence) was thrown out at third on the play to limit the rally, making it 4-1.

The Ospreys answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Bradyn Thompson (Bates) ripped a two-run single to left, driving in Sitzer and Baay to push the lead back to five at 6-1.

The Bucks added one final run in the seventh when Swift singled to center, but North Fork closed the door to secure the 6-2 win.

North Fork’s pitching staff was outstanding. Isaac Aguirre (Ponoma-Pitzer, 2-1) tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while walking four and striking out five to earn the victory. Matt Guido (Lycoming) worked the final two innings, surrendering two runs while striking out three.

Shelter Island starter Sam Lowenstein (Colby, 2-2) took the loss after allowing four runs on four hits over three innings. Xavier Hall (Emerson) pitched the final three innings, giving up two runs while striking out five.

Sag Harbor 6, Westhampton 4

The Sag Harbor Whalers erased an early deficit with a late rally Tuesday night, scoring three runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Westhampton Aviators 6-4.

Westhampton struck first in the opening inning when Brady Green (Bucknell) lined an RBI single to right field, scoring Nick Koch (Merrimack) for a 1-0 lead.

Sag Harbor answered immediately as Aaron Vetter (Palm Beach Atlantic) launched a solo home run to center field, tying the game at 1-1. The Whalers moved in front in the second when Aidan Callahan (Emerson) delivered an RBI single to center, bringing home Matteo Cubello (St. Anselm) for a 2-1 advantage.

The Aviators responded with a three-run third inning to reclaim the lead. Green drove in Koch once again after reaching on an error, then Brayden Hromada (Quinnipiac) brought home Greenon a fielder’s choice. Moments later, Luke Rizzi (American International) singled to first base, scoring Garrett Mathias (Bucknell) to give Westhampton a 4-2 lead.

Sag Harbor chipped away in the bottom of the third when Carter Dickinson (Castleton) singled to right, plating Milo Suarez (Dartmouth) to cut the deficit to 4-3.

The Whalers completed the comeback in the sixth. Dickinson worked a bases-loaded walk to force in a run and later tie the game before Thomas Shaw (Castleton) followed with the biggest hit of the night, lining a two-run single to left-center that scored Suarez and Vetter for a 6-4 lead.

Sag Harbor’s bullpen made the lead stand. Vetter (1-0) was dominant in relief, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out two to earn the victory. Ethan Righter (Hamilton) closed out the seventh with two strikeouts for his second save of the season.

Starter Braeden Mott (Barton) allowed four runs—just two earned—over three innings before turning the game over to the bullpen.

Southampton 3, Riverhead 1

The Southampton Breakers broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth inning to earn a 3-1 victory over the Riverhead Tomcats.

Southampton struck first in the second inning when Vic Patel (Wallace CC) lined a single to bring home Zach Khozozian (Harvard), giving the Breakers a 1-0 lead.
