Westhampton 5, Southampton 2 (6.5 Innings)
The Westhampton Aviators defeated the Southampton Breakers by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday at Southampton High School.
Brett Connolly (High Point) led the Westhampton offense with a pair of hits and RBI while Antonio Belgrove (Salem St.) was 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and a pair of runs scored.
Alex Apicella (Stony Brook) had all the offensive for Southampton with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third.
Jack Molini (Le Moyne) pitched a six-inning complete game for the Aviators with six strikeouts and three walks to get his second win of the season. Ashton Hammond (Nichols) took the loss for Southampton.
Sag Harbor 3, Riverhead 2
The Sag Harbor Whalers defeated the Riverhead Tomcats by a score of 3-2 at Sgt. Jonathan Keller Field in Calverton on Tuesday.
Sag Harbor took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on RBI from Finley Holmes (Palm Beach Atlantic) and Eddie Morrissey (St. Lawrence). Riverhead would score two runs in the bottom of the second to even the score but would leave the bases loaded before having a chance at a big inning.
The Whalers took the lead for good in the top of the fifth when Collin Harty (Nichols) broke the 2-2 tie with an RBI single.
Kris Vinski (St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) pitched three innings of scoreless relief allowing just one hit to improve his record on the season to 2-2. Derek Desmarais (Tufts) picked up his league-leading fifth save of the season.
The North Fork v. Shelter Island game was suspended due to weather in the bottom of the sixth inning with the score tied at 8-8. Play will resume on Wednesday at 2 PM in Southampton at Southampton High School at the point the game was suspended in the sixth.
