Southampton 6, Shelter Island 1
The Southampton Breakers defeated the Shelter Island Bucks by a score of 6-1 on Saturday at Southampton High School.
The Breakers took control of the game from the start scoring four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 4-0 lead and then later adding another run on a solo home run by Nick Slogik (Rowan College at Gloucester) to lead 5-0.
The Bucks would get on the board in the top of the fifth on a double steal that scored Jackson McBride (Bates) before the Breakers got the run back in the bottom of the sixth.
Trey Stricker (West Chester) pitched four scoreless innings allowing just three hits with four strikeouts and a walk to improve his record on the season to 2-0.
Riverhead 4, Westhampton 1 (4.5 Innings)
The Riverhead Tomcats won a rain-shortened game at the Eastport Athletic Complex beating the Westhampton Aviators by a score of 4-1.
Both teams scored a run in the fourth inning before Riverhead would score three runs before the rain came to call off the game.
Matthew Ryan (Adelphi) hit a two-run single to give Riverhead the lead and then Richie Heyder (Farmingdale St.) drove in his second run of the game on an RBI single. The rain would come soon after giving the Tomcats the victory.
Jackson Garcia (Suffolk U) earned the win for Riverhead going all four innings allowing a run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
