HCBL, Apex Minds Team Up to Strengthen the Mental Game

The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League has partnered with Apex Minds to provide its players with mental performance training designed to strengthen focus, confidence and resilience under pressure.

Apex Minds has been named the Official Mental Performance Training Partner of the HCBL. The neuroscience-backed program introduces athletes to techniques used in elite military, Olympic and professional sports environments, making those tools accessible to collegiate players competing across the East End.

Apex Minds founder Katie Tardif has already conducted training sessions with HCBL teams throughout the league. The interactive sessions challenge players to recognize how their minds and bodies respond to pressure, maintain concentration through adversity and approach competition with greater confidence.

“Our players arrive with tremendous physical ability,” HCBL President Sandi Kruel said. “This partnership gives them additional tools to perform when the pressure is highest, both on the baseball field and in their lives beyond the game.”

Tardif spent a decade working within the high-performance environment of Equinox Hotels and alongside experts in neuroscience, psychology and human performance. She is also completing a master’s degree in sports and performance psychology and personally leads Apex Minds training programs.

Her approach is designed to be active and engaging rather than a traditional lecture. Players experience pressure-based exercises that help them better understand their emotional and physical reactions during competition.

The partnership reflects the HCBL’s continued commitment to developing the whole athlete. In addition to helping players compete more effectively during the summer season, the training provides skills they can bring back to their college programs, classrooms and communities.
