First Responders Honored at Riverhead Tomcats Home Opener

The Riverhead Tomcats honored local first responders during their home opener against the Westhampton Aviators on June 12, inviting five community members to throw out ceremonial first pitches.

Participating in the ceremony were Riverhead Police Officer Jimmy Luppens, a former Riverhead Tomcat who played for the team in 2011 and 2012; Marine Lance Corporal Thomas Zultko; Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps Vice President Keith Lewin; Steven Bedell of the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Mattituck Fire Department; and Riverhead Fire Department Lieutenant Nicholas Guma.

The ceremony gave the Tomcats and their fans an opportunity to recognize the service and dedication of the first responders who help protect the Riverhead community.
