Carreras/Hiller Named as HCBL Weekly Award Winners for Week 2
The second week of the 2026 HCBL season saw a lot of great action but there were two players who stood out among the pack.
North Fork’s Manny Carreras (Pace) was named the Pepsi Player of the Week while Westhampton’s Joseph Hiller (Quinnipiac) was selected as the ACE Hardware Pitcher of the Week.
Carreras hit an incredible .647 for the Ospreys in Week 2 going 11-for-17 at the plate with five doubles and four RBI. Carreras had four games in Week 2 with at least two hits.
On June 24th in a 14-3 win over the Southampton Breakers, Carreras was 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double with a pair of runs scored as the Ospreys got a big win to get within the fourth playoff spot.
Hiller had an amazing outing for Westhampton against North Fork on June 20th. Despite getting a no-decision, the native of Center Moriches hurled five shutout innings with eight strikeouts while allowing just three hits.
As of June 28th, Hiller currently leads the HCBL in strikeouts with 24, eight ahead of teammate Jesse Kostulias who sits in second place with 16.
The HCBL weekly awards are voted on by the league’s six head coaches each weekend.
