Torres Pitches Complete Game in North Fork’s 11-1 Mercy Win Over Southampton
Behind good hitting and a great pitching performance from Eddie Torres (Post) the North Fork Ospreys beat the Southampton Breakers by a score of 11-1 in a nine-inning game that was ended after seven innings due to the mercy rule.
Torres went all seven innings for the Ospreys, allowing a run on six hits with seven strikeouts and two walks as he earned his first win of the season.
Max Doninger (St. Peter’s) led the Ospreys offense, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Gianni Generoso (SUNY Westchester CC) had a home run for North Fork in the win. Rocco Cimino (Pace) and Eli Sitzer (Washington (MO) contributed to North Fork’s offensive attack with two RBI each.
Hector Francia (St. John’s) drove in the lone run of the game for Southampton with an RBI single in the top of the fifth.
The two teams will meet again on Tuesday when the Breakers and Ospreys play their second game of a home-and-home set at Southampton High School.
